THQs Conan game is an adventurous game that takes place in the savage land of Hyboria. Conan as you probably already know is a famed barbarian known for fighting battles each day to protect and save others. This time his fight is for the good of the people of Hyboria, especially the helpless maidens that have been captured by the brutes of the land. Coonans mission is to stop the great wizard Graven. Graven wasn’t always a wizard but used to be a mortal man destroyed by his own desires and continually trying to consume others and their land to gain power. Graven is continually using his "dark magic" or "Black death" to steal men’s souls and Conan is ultimately the only man powerful enough to stop him and his cruel doing deeds. Conan also on his missions finds a beautiful assistant, warrior AKanna who is equally determined to stop Graven forever from his cruel intentions. AKanna is determined to destroy Graven as a repayment for destroying her homeland and killing her people. AKannas strong desire along with Conan’s enormous strength hopefully can rid their world of this terrible wizard once and for all.
Together Conan and AKanna will travel to varying lands and fight furious battles to help others and stop his wrong doings. Conan throughout his travels will use several different weapons. Swords being the most common weapon of Conan range in size and shape and purpose for the battle. Conan can never carry more than 2 swords at any given time but who needs more than 2 if your Conan. Conan’s also has the use of shields for protection, armor and Runes which can be obtained throughout play that are used to restore health, armor, power and also gives him experience to carry on. Treasure chests filled with bounty also can provide even further assistance along with the runes to Conan as a form of experience that may come in handy during battle. Conan unlike most barbarians also has magic powers to use in battle. Unlike most barbarians depending on strength and weapons to fight, Conan can cast forth fireballs, turn a man into stone or even summons a flock of ravens to destroy his enemy. If those powers aren’t enough Conan can even rip open a hole into the abyss that can suck his arch enemy up and away for good. With each enemy that Conan kills he becomes even more powerful. Conan’s power is kept and recorded for you to view during play on the "Song of Death" meter. Conan has 3 different game levels to choose from Easy, Medium and Hard. Each mission will vary in difficulty and one that is listed "Easy", may seem harder than another played on the Medium level which gives it quite some variability. Depending on the game and mission level won other levels can be unlocked for further surprise play, if you’re up to the challenge Extra experience points can also be earned and can be spent for learning a different attack strategy that can be helpful in being successful at your mission. Fighting from one mission to another is the theme of the game, some you learn from and get better and then you start the next mission of fighting. Of course Conan does have to have some smarts to make his way around in these new missions so fighting and critical thinking have to go hand and hand or else he fails. This game is definitely rated Mature for reason of Nudity and Violence because that’s what it’s all about. For that reason some may have to have the game and for others the main reason to get another. One thing is for sure this game is definitely not recommended for children.
