It’s finally arrived! Mx vs ATV untamed is the largest platform release in franchise history. Whether you have the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS or mobile device that uses a major wireless carrier and this game is made for all. One exception is the Nintendo Wii version will be available in February 2008. MX vs ATV untamed is a game for everyone. The game varies little depending on the console you use for play but each will list it variations and selections will be explained. MX vs ATV Untamed for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 have all the same racing modes/series and vehicles and player formats. The variety of racing styles/series is exceptional, the number and types of vehicles to choose from if unbelievable and the number of players ranging from 2 to 12 was unthinkable until now. All this variety contained in one game available for either system
From the main menu you can choose to play in a single-player mode, in tournaments, quick or custom events, X-cross tournaments or Event Series. Rewards can also be obtained in the form of money, vehicles, gear, or parts all that can be used towards purchasing new items for your next event. If playing Multi-player on Xbox live or on Network you can have up to 12 players online and 2 player split-screen on the Xbox 360. If playing on the PS3 you can play with 8 players online and 2 player split-screen. Playing as multi-player you also have a choice to play casually and non-ranked just for fun in either quick or custom matches or in mini-games. If you feel like having a little competition at the time you might choose a ranked match in competition against players with similar skills. With ranked matches these also can be played as a quick or custom march whichever you desire at the time. Mini-games are divided into 5 different series: Section Race, Graffiti, Snake, Tag and Hockey (split screen only). All of these games require speed and skill to carry out the main objective whatever it may be depending on which game you choose but all are definitely a challenge. When Quick Event play is chosen the event type, duration and vehicle type and class are all chosen at random which gets you into the game quickly. Custom Event gaming if fully customized by the player. You choose the event type, location, skill level, format, vehicle, and rider. This choice of play is great as a learning tool for learning events and areas before you face them when you have to compete with the pros.
The series consists of MX vs ATV Rivalry and played in several different formats. Trophies can also be obtained in 8 individual series, that is if you’re the winner. Depending on the series you choose you can race indoors or outdoors, around logs or cones man or nature created you choose the layout and you decide the pace. The series are divided into 8 different choices: National, Supercross, Freestyle, Opencross, Supermoto, Endurocross, Waypoint, and Minimoto. The multiple vehicles available in game play make this game much harder to get bored with unlike some others we have all played before. You can choose to drive a Motorcycle, ATV, and Monster Truck, ORV sport, Sand Rail, Trophy truck, Off-road Buggy or even a Golf cart.
The Game Screen is definitely a plus with its design layout. The layout has everything you need to know about yourself, your vehicle and your surroundings all layed out in an easy to read and see format. The screen layout can cover everything from players to speed to timers, your position/score and maps and several others (13 total) and not be all cluttered together. The background music soundtracks also can be customized with a wide variety of artists that help create an adrenaline pumping atmosphere for play. Some examples of artists are: Disturbed, Nickelback, Mudvayne, Authority Zero and many others just to name a few, along with over 100 licensed sponsors.
MX vs ATV untamed is definitely a step up from earlier games of this type. Some features in this game have been around since the start and making many years earlier and some have changed. I have to say despite this being a great game it still has room for improvement. Certain sounds aren’t very realistic, some vehicle movements that should be possible aren’t but others that are ridiculously insane can be accomplished despite gravity which on the other side can be really hilarious for yourself and others just watching. Despite only having a few flaws this game is definitely a next-generation game that provides alot of variety for everyone in one package.
