If you love a good first person combat game or if your just a gory horror and survival freak then look no further and get your copy of Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Condemned 2 by Sega is a combination of both features and can be played in single player mode or in multiplayer online. The storyline is played by you being Ethan Thomas, an ex-investigator of violent crimes that currently has to put an end to the bloody trail that the reappearing serial killer SKX has once again started leaving across the city. It is here now that Condemned 2 lets you begin your journey into chaos while together experiencing the thrilling adventure of piecing together clues to save the city.
Thomas does have his work cut out for him and is experiencing his own bout of hard times since leaving his job as a special agent and tries to drown it all in alcohol. Thomas is not only a fighting sole suffering physically on his mission trying to save others but also mentally with trying to escape some of his past and the alcohol seems to be only making things worse. As I mentioned prior, Condemned 2 can be played as single or online with 2-8 players where you can host or join a multiplayer game. Several game modes are available and provide some degree of a challenge no matter which mode you choose. Condemned 2 also has a nice practice arena where you can do as the title says and just practice. Within the practice mode you can choose your opponent type and numbers, along with the weapon and several other options to make you practice a reward experience especially when you start to play the other missions. The following is a short overview of the other modes available: Lockdown mode is another choice of play that provides a short timed challenge in which you have to kill as many things as possible being your goal. In the Riot Control mode, you help the cops defeat speedballers as quickly as possible. Streets of Rage mode brings you together with the museum guards to fight against street vandals and thieves so see what you can do as a team. Smoke-“Em mode provides you a very challenging skilled mission in which you have to kill 3 masked rioters as quickly as possible as how quick you are will depend on how high your score will be so don’t stop to take an extra breath. The last mode Deadly Day Care, provides a different timed challenge in which you have to kill 100 mutated dolls in the quickest time possible. Whichever mode you choose you will definitely discover a unique challenge.
Weapons available will range from pistols, shotguns, stun guns, rifles and light to heavy and exotic melee weaponry. Depending on which type of melee these weapons range from things in everyday use in our surroundings like: 2X4s, shovels, sledgehammers, commode seats, and even gumball machines not to mention many others. Choose your weaponry wisely because you can only carry one at a time and the ammunition is also restricted to the amount that is found with the weapon when you obtain it, so also be sure to use it wisely. Melee weapons and hands on fighting battles will be the majority of the battles that you will use during your encounters. During play you will be instructed on which items are available and can also be used as melee weapons, just in case you’re wondering.
As you play you will also collect your forensics as your friends in the lab help you with the clues and selection. Don’t forget and let your guard down during collection because you can be attacked at any time and trust me, it wont be pretty and since almost everyone has it out for you. I say that not because you’re the bad guy, but that’s the way the game is set up and why almost everyone you confront on the street you have to kill to get past. Never leave your weapon or throw it down because your enemy will get it and not think twice about using it against you. As you progress through the missions of course things only get harder and more challenging so don’t let your guard down and there is no rest until your done.
Condemned 2 does of course have its issues and glitches as I have said hundreds of times before because every game has some type in some form. Don’t worry though because these glitches are small and I didn’t discover any that caused major frustration. The framerate was quit slower in the PS3 when compared to the 360 but not to worry, it’s not enough to shoot down the game or say only buy it for the 360, just a little FYI. The graphics and the audio are greatly suited for Bloodshot and actually enhance and add to the thrill and fright factor in the gameplay experience overall. I say this frequently but it stands true that every player has their own likes and dislikes with a game selection and the options of play within. Playing in multiplayer mode I feel usually brings more excitement in relation to competition with others v/s single player modes in where you are just simply playing with/against the game. Condemned 2 provides choices in play and strategy and I feel confident to say that within these given options you are sure to find a couple that will be rewarding if this type of fearless mature game content that you normally seek and play.
