The Map Pack 2 for Call of Duty World at War was released recently. This Map Pack contains four maps altogether, with three new multiplayer maps and one new Nazi Zombie map. The Map Pack costs 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 or $9.99 on the Playstation Store.
The Three multiplayer maps include: “Banzai”, which features a waterfall, and Treyarch claimed was one of the most beautiful maps they had ever designed. The map is beautifully engineered and fun to play on and notice all of the detail that Treyarch has included into the map. The next map is called “Corrosion”. This map is made for intense battles including a catwalk, and corroded pipes that you can actually walk through. The third map is called “Sub Pens”. Sub Pens is a bombed-out submarine base. It is smaller than most other maps. It is the second smallest map, just behind Dome.
You’re probably asking yourself, what about the new Nazi Zombie Map? Well don’t worry, I’m getting to that. The new Nazi Zombie Map is Shi No Numa, meaning “Zombie Swamp”. In this “Zombie Swamp” you will be fighting the undead Imperial Army, who will be rising from the depths of the swamp, only to be blown back by your explosions, traps, and most importantly, your bullets.
Shi No Numa is much bigger compared to Verruckt in Map Pack 1. Shi No Numa has a total of 5 different huts. One is the Center Building (not the official name for it) which is the building that everyone spawns in. It has 2 stories, and is also the building that the random weapon box starts out in.
From the Center Building there are 4 smaller huts on each corner of the map. These all have names, which include: Fishing Hut, Doctors Quarters, Comm. (Communications) Room, and Storage.
Just like in the map Verruckt from Map Pack 1, you can get a “Teddy Bear” from the random weapon box. That means that the Random Weapon Box’s location has changed to any one of the huts that I mentioned earlier. But when you get the Teddy Bear, so you will know where the Random Weapon box is, there is a huge bright light that shines straight up into the sky, overtop of whatever hut the box is in.
There are also many “Easter Eggs” in Shi No Numa, which I think is really cool. One Easter Egg is located in the Communications Room is if you hit the X Button (or Square on Playstation 3) four times while next to the phone, you will hear a creepy voice, along with some really good music. Another Easter Egg is, just outside the map, there is a huge, glowing meteorite which activates some interesting dialogue when shot, indicating that that’s where all the zombies are coming from. There are also many other Easter Eggs, with some, still undiscovered. There is also much more dialogue in this map.
Another interesting thing about Shi No Numa is the feature of Hellhounds, or Zombie Dogs. Once every few rounds just a round of the Hellhounds will appear. These Hellhounds run really fast and the ones that are on fire will explode when shot.
In Shi No Numa there are traps. Shi No Numa has Bouncing Betty’s and electric doorways just like in Verruckt, but Shi No Numa features a trap of its own. It is called “The Flogger”. The Flogger has 2 rotating blocks of wood with spikes on them, made to completely obliterate any zombies that should come near.
Shi No Numa also comes with 10 brand new Achievements, or Trophies on Playstation 3, that you will get whilst fighting your way through the merciless undead Imperial Army.
There is also a brand new gun in Shi No Numa. It is called the “Wunderwaffe DG-2”. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 is a gun that fights back the zombies with bolts of electricity. The electricity can shock more than one zombie at once and will streak to any zombies near. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 is great for taking out groups of the undead.
Shi No Numa also has a new feature, random Perk-A-Cola Machines. Whenever you enter each one of the huts, a random Perk machine will appear. Don’t worry, you can still collect all perks, since there are four huts, there will be four perk machines.
The graphics on Shi No Numa are absolutely breathtaking. My friend and I actually lost the game because we were so amazed and distracted by the all the detail. Treyarch has really stunned me with everything on Shi No Numa. Treyarch really went over the top with detail and graphics on this map and I believe the result is unbelievable.
Overall, the Map Pack 2 is definitely a must-have. If you liked the first Map Pack, then you will absolutely love this one. In my opinion, Shi No Numa is much better than Verruckt in many ways. I couldn’t wait for the Map Pack to be released and I am extremely glad I purchased it. Treyarch’s Map Pack 1 had over 2 million downloads and I am sure that this one will top that.
