Gears of War is Epic’s third person shooter for the Xbox 360. It is personally my favorite game ever made for the Xbox 360, or any console. The story of Gears begins on a planet called Sera. The humans of Sera lived in peace until, EMERGENCE DAY! Emergence day is the day when the Locust horde rose from the ground making Sera a living hell (for the survivors.) There are 57 achievements that can be unlocked for a total of 1250 gamerscore. Achievement details can be found HERE!
There are 4our different ways you can play campaign mode. One way is you can play alone by yourself. Another is you can hook up two controlles and play split-screen co-op.Third you can host your own campaign game and play cooperitivley online. Lastly you can just join someone elses game online. There are 3 different difficulties you can play on in campaign. There is Casual (Easy), Hardcore (Medium), and Insane (Hard). Throughout the game you play through 5 different acts. Each one takes roughly 20- 30 minutes on Casual Mode. The game starts with Dominic Santiago, rescueing former COG (Coalition of Gears) soldier Marcus Fenix, from prison. Marcus Fenix had been in prison for not taking orders from Colonel Hoffman. The two continue on two the rally point where they meet up with Colonel Hoffman, Kim, and Carmine. Let’s talk about the weapons in Gears of War.
There are a variety of weapons in Gears. Let’s here’s a list of them and what they do.
- Lancer-An automatic machine gun that with a 60 round clip. This gun also has a chainsaw bayonet witch cuts enemys in half.
- Gnasher shotgun-This shotgun is a very powerful gun with an 8ight shell capacity.
- Snub Pistol-This Pistol is a secondary weapon. With a clip size of 12 rounds.
- Hammerburst-An automatic weapon that shoots in three round bursts. This is more powerful than the lancer.
- Longshot Sniper Rifle-A very powerful scoped sniper rifle. With an active reload, you can down your oppenent.
- Grenades-There are two types of grenades. Frag:An explosive grenade. Smoke: Deployable smoke cover.
- Boomshot-A rocket tha shoots in a lob path that blows up your enemy.
- Torque Bow-A bow and arrow that shoots and impails enemies. Once the arrow is in for two seconds...it explodes.
- Hammer of Dawn- A satiilite operated weapon where a laser comes down and burns any enemy under or near the laser.
- Boltok Pistol- a six gun. Very powerful, low rate of fire.
In Gars of War, you can play online in 4our different game types. All of them except annex, allow you to score when the whole other team is eliminated. Then on to the next round until you takeout the whole other the set amount of times. Warzone is a game where you fight with your team to kill the other team. When somebody downs you, you have a certain amount of time until you bleed out. During this time, you can be picked up by your teammate, shot, curbstomped, chainsawed or die from bloodloss. Execution is another gametype. It is the same as Warzone except when you get downed, you can revive yourself or have all those other things happen to you. If you are downed twice, the next time you will just fall and die. Thirdly there’s Assassination. Assassination is a strategic game where there is a Leader on each side. Colonel Hoffman on COG and General Raam on Locust.) When the leader on either team dies, a point is scored for the team with the living leader. Last there’s annex. Annex is a King of the hill type game. The objective is to capture rings for 60 seconds around weapons. Each second you own a spot, you score a point for your team. The game is won when you get the set amount of points. There are different charactars you can play as in multiplayer. On the COG team you can play as Macus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, Kim, Carmine, Colonel Hoffman, Baird, or Augustus "Coletrain" Cole. On Locust you can plat as a Drone, Theron Guard, sniper, Grenedier, or General Raam. There are 16 different online maps. 6 of witch are downloaded from the xbox live marketplace free. The maps are Canals, Clocktower, Escalation, Fuel Depot, Gridlock, Mansion, Mausoleam, Rooftops, Tyro Station, War Machine, Raven Down, Old Bones, Garden, Process, and Bullet Marsh.
