Whether in the form of legacy PSP games like Wipeout and Syphon Filter, PS one Classics like Twisted Metal or original games like Beats, downloadable games for the PlayStation Portable are perhaps the most exciting part of the system’s (non-homebrew) gaming scene. The PlayStation Store for PC (for PSP.. what an awkward naming job by Sony) has made downloadable games more viable now that a significantly larger portion of the PSP’s audience is able to access that content. And as such, Sony’s John Koller assures us that much more in the way of downloadable games is coming.
“We have an opportunity to bring bite-size experiences to the system, ten minute, pick up and play content that can be downloaded from the store,” Koller told Kotaku. There are also more plans to re-release older legacy titles as downloads, ones that “retailers aren’t interested in carrying at this stage, games that we hear a lot of demand from PSP owners—titles like Wipeout, Twisted Metal—gamers who say ‘I want to play this’ but can’t find it at retail anymore.”
That’s great news, especially for newer PSP gamers who might have trouble finding some of the older quality games outside of eBay.
