At a school in Detroit, Michigan, 12 year old Henery Clay’s Sony PSP burst into flames whilst in his pocket. More than once has this happened where a lithium-iron battery has caught fire, mostly occuring in laptops. This has never happened in a PSP.
Sheila Clay, the boy’s mother, explained, "He said it wasn’t a gradual heat. It really started heating up. He’s always been taught burn - fire - smoke, you drop and you roll. So, he dropped and rolled."
The PSP was off because he was in class. When it set fire in his poket, a teacher was lucky to remove it from his pocket. He was taught to "Stop, Drop, and Roll" So he did so. Clay was treated for second degree burn to his leg. Ironically, the game in the PSP at the time was Burnout. Sony has had this problem with their notebooks, but never for the PSP. Could this be good for Nintendo DS sales?
