It has been confirmed that Bungie has a new project

to be unveiled soon

Microsoft is building a development team to work on next gen Halo games and it will involve Peter Jackson (LotR trilogy director)

"Bungie will, however, continue to remain very much involved in multiple aspects the Halo Universe as part of our ongoing relationship with Microsoft." and Bungie also says it’s currently working on a "variety of projects"
